A pupil consultation meeting is to be held on Wednesday, 13th April in relation to the ongoing consultation on English-medium secondary provision in Haverfordwest.
The two secondary schools affected by the proposals – Sir Thomas Picton School and Tasker Milward VC School – will each nominate pupils to attend the meeting.
It will be held at the Pembrokeshire Archives in Prendergast, Haverfordwest at 4pm.
The consultation on English-medium secondary provision in Haverfordwest can be found at Pembrokeshire County Council’s website at www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/haveyoursay
The consultation is asking the public to give their views on the following proposals:
- Discontinue Sir Thomas Picton School and Tasker Milward VC School
- Establish a new 11-16 English medium school in Haverfordwest and to provide additional ALN provision for pupils with complex learning needs;
- Provide post 16 provision for the above school in a new sixth form centre as part of a formal collaboration between the County Council and Pembrokeshire College with some accommodation co-located on the site of the 11-16 school;
- Express a preference to implement a Hub and Spoke model when and where it is practicable to do so.
All schools which could be affected by the new proposals were provided with copies of a young-person friendly consultation document at the beginning of the consultation process.
The closing date for consultation responses is Thursday 14th April.
