Scarlets welcome Cardiff Blues to Parc y Scarlets on Saturday, 2nd April, in their second Welsh derby in as many weeks and flanker James Davies says a big home crowd will give the West Wales region a big boost.
A victory over Ospreys last weekend saw the Scarlets stay in third position in the Guinness PRO12 table moving within two points of Leisnter, in second place, but know that a win this weekend is vital to keep their play-off hopes alive.
Speaking earlier this week James Davies said; “It was a good professional performance [against Ospreys]. I don’t think it was the greatest of spectacles but our set piece went well and we managed the second half well.
“We talked about how big a game the derby always is. At the end of the day we’re looking for the top four and hopefully top two.”
The Scarlets return to the Parc on Saturday for the penultimate home game of the season. Davies went on to say: “It’s just another game at the end and that incentive of playing against a local team gives it a bit more of an edge. We’re going to be up for this game and all the boys are looking forward to it.
“It’s all about ourselves. If we win every game we’ll put ourselves in a good place.
“A big home crowd makes a huge difference. Your attitude, across the board, everyone is more up for the game when the crowd is bigger. Hopefully they all turn up on Saturday.
“We’ve out ourselves in a really good position after a season of hard work. Hopefully we can secure another good win on Saturday and keep that momentum going into the rest of the season.”
