Visitors to Llanelli Library were invited to join in the celebrations to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.
Readings from some of Shakespeare’s most popular and familiar works were presented by Llanelli’s Phoenix Theatre Group in a promenade performance, entitled from ‘Bard to Verse’.
Phoenix Director W Noel Rees said: “Some members of the public stayed for the whole selection of Shakespeare’s works whilst others drifted in and out.”
This very different and successful event held at Llanelli Library created a new interest in some of Shakespeare’s works and Library Services Manager Mark Jewell said: “The Phoenix Theatre Group have already successfully performed several times for us when they presented a selection of readings at the opening of the Refurbishment of the Library, at the formation of the Stepney Branch of the WI and at a Murder Mystery evening at all our major Library Branches.”
