The re-opening of the Minor Injuries Unit over the Easter period has been a success according to Tony Wales from the South East Pembrokeshire Community Health Network.
Following the re-opening of the Minor Injuries Unit in Tenby Hospital Plaid Cymru has now called for the return of the walk-in service to be made permanent and has highlighted the danger of the Labour Party opposing the re-opening of the unit.
Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire candidate for the Party of Wales Simon Thomas said:
âPlaid Cymru discussed this issue with Hywel Dda Health Board last month and raised re-opening the unit with Health Minister Mark Drakeford at the National Assembly.
âWe must build on the walk-in pilot that took place over the Easter holidays and make re-opening of the unit at Tenby Hospital permanent.â
Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire candidate Simon Thomas highlighted a tweet from Labour spin doctors in Cardiff which made clear they would not be re-opening any Minor Injury Units in Wales if they were returned to power on May 5th.
Plaid Cymruâs Simon Thomas said: âI am shocked that Labour central office in Cardiff has rejected reopening Tenby Minor Injuries Unit. The Labour candidate must be livid that his bosses in Cardiff have left his promises worthless. Only Plaid Cymru can guarantee Tenbyâs Minor Injuries Unit.
âWales needs a new government to end Labourâs legacy of failure. Weâll provide the leadership needed to strengthen our NHS.â
