by Paola Piana,

The fruit we eat comes from all over the World. Though we do grow a lot of fruit in Britain the climate isn’t suitable for growing some of the fruit we really love, and therefore we have to rely on our fruit coming from all corners of the globe!

In this session we are going to make a fruit flan using some exciting, healthy fruits from around the World.

Remember we want to have a mixture of different flavours, colours and textures to make this something special.

This is a real chance to create something artistic…and something tasty and healthy too!

So what do we need?

Ingredients

Readymade flan case

Fruit gel (comes in a packet)

Fruits…for example

Strawberries           Raspberries       Blueberries     Oranges

Kiwi fruits                Bananas            Peaches          Grapes

Mango                     Passion fruit      Pineapple                Nectarines

Pears                       Apples              Blackberries     Cherries

So to make this exciting Flan

Wash and then thinly slice all the fruits

Mix the gel mixture according to the instructions

Take the flan case out of all the packaging and place onto a flat plate

Arrange the fruit in the flan case and when the gel has cooled gently pour over the fruit until all the fruit is covered.

The flan now needs to cool, so place in a fridge until the gel has set.

This flan is great with a fruit sauce, ice cream, fresh cream or yoghurt or great on its own.

Be creative…have fun….enjoy ….be healthy!
