A Carmarthen student is set to make a positive difference when he takes part in an expedition with sustainable development charity Raleigh International.
Ben Butler, 17, will work alongside volunteers from Tanzania for seven weeks, as part of Raleigh International’s expedition programme.

Living and working in a rural community, he will be getting stuck into sustainable community and environmental projects, working in some of Tanzania’s most remote places.
He will be volunteering on projects to improve the resilience of the community, and helping them to protect their natural resources, helping to make a genuine difference.
He will also take part in a challenging trek as part of an adventure phase.
Ben said: “I am really looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
Ben has set up a justgiving page for any supporters to make a donation however small at  www.justgiving.com/Ben-Butler5
All funds raised for Raleigh International will contribute towards making tangible and lasting change in rural communities in Borneo, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Nepal and Tanzania where the charity operates ongoing volunteer expeditions.
Ben said: My dad, David, and his staff at Clay Shaw Butler accountants in Carmarthen have been raising money for charities for a number of years and I thought this was a good opportunity for me to raise funds for Raleigh International to help a community in Tanzania over my summer holidays.”
Raleigh expeditions inspire young people aged 17-24 to contribute to long-term development projects.
The programme offers young people the chance to develop personally and learn about teamwork and leadership on projects that are of genuine value to communities around the world.
Stacey Adams, CEO of Raleigh International said: “Raleigh expeditions are designed to challenge and support our volunteers to develop skills that will have a positive impact not just on their lives, but also in their home communities upon their return. We believe in the passion, energy and creativity of young people and recognise that they must be involved with development if it is to be sustainable for future generations”.
