A DOG who was seen fouling in Bro Einon in Llanybydder was followed home by council officers and its owner fined.
Environmental enforcement officers were on patrol at the time of the incident.
The dog was unaccompanied and roaming the area so they followed him until they established where he had come from.
The owner was issued with a fixed penalty notice of £75 for failing to clean up after his dog.
Failure to pay within 14 days could lead to prosecution in the magistrates court and a maximum fine of £1,000.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “Just because the owner was not with the dog at the time it does not mean they are not accountable. In failing to clean up after it they have committed an offence.
“We would like to remind dog owners that they should have control of their dogs at all times and not allow them to roam the streets.”
