Important elections in Wales are fast approaching – make sure you’re ready!

With two sets of important elections fast approaching in Wales, Neath Port Talbot Council is urging residents to look out for the Electoral Commission’s information booklet, which will be landing on doormats this week.

The booklet, which will be delivered to every household in Wales over the next week, contains important information for voters on the elections taking place, how to register to vote and how to cast your vote, as well as important information on the work of the National Assembly for Wales and Police and Crime Commissioner.

If you want to be able to vote and have your say at these elections, the deadline to register is Monday 18 April.

Steven Phillips, Electoral Registration Officer for Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council said: “I would encourage everyone to look out for the Electoral Commission’s booklet. It gives you all the information you need to ensure that you can have your say at the National Assembly for Wales and Police and Crime Commissioner elections on 5 May. If you’re not registered to vote, you have until 18 April to apply online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.”

Rhydian Thomas, Head of the Electoral Commission in Wales, said: “We want to make sure that everyone has all the information they need ahead of polling day so they can take part in these important elections. There will be three ballot papers in Wales and our booklet gives clear instructions on how to mark the different ballot papers. We want voters to have confidence that when they’ve marked their ballot paper, their vote will be counted.”
