The leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Andrew RT Davies, has called on the First Minister Carwyn Jones and Jeremy Corbyn to distance themselves from comments made by Labour spin-doctor, Andrew Fisher, who was caught bragging to a Momentum group meeting that the Tata steel crisis had âplayed very wellâ for Labour.
Responding to these remarks, Andrew RT Davies said:Â âTo say that a crisis where the fate of thousands of families hangs in the balance has âplayed very wellâ is nothing short of disgusting and betrays a flagrant disregard for the plight of our steelworkers – and this coming from a party who claims to stand for the working man. It is sad that Labour has chosen to use this time of immense uncertainty for hardworking communities across Wales and England as an opportunity for cynical party political gain. Carwyn Jones and Jeremy Corbyn must immediately distance themselves from these comments.â
