Business in a box

Young people looking to develop their entrepreneurial skills can get a taste for the business world by receiving guidance from experienced mentors.

That’s the view of Pembrokeshire County Council’s Economy Overview and Scrutiny Committee who have given their support to a project that aims to encourage young people to discover, learn and experience enterprise through captains of industry

It comes after the launch of a new initiative called ‘Business in a Box’ that budding businessmen and women of the future can hire to kick start their commercial dreams.

The boxes contain different businesses such as Waffle machines, hot dogs stands, sewing machines and candle machines among others.

Cabinet member for Economy and Careers Councillor Keith Lewis says they are the perfect way to test the waters of commerce and is encouraging local businesses to help the future trade leaders of tomorrow.

“Business in a Box is a brilliant way of learning what is needed to create a successful business. It provides these groups with the basics needed to succeed and I’m sure they will all benefit from them.

“Like any youngster however a little guidance wouldn’t go amiss and I would encourage local businesses to do all they can in helping to mentor them.

“We all respond to role models and the business world is no different and anything that can be gleaned by learning from experienced practitioners of the business world can only be a good thing.”

Any business that would like to get involved should contact Wendy Harris on wendy.harris@pembrokeshire.gov.uk or 01437 775648.
