On Wednesday 04 May, the British Lung Foundation (BLF) is relaunching Breathe Easy Swansea – a support group for people living with a lung condition (their friends, families and carers). The group will now be supported by Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board (ABMU), which means that at every meeting a health care professional from the will be in attendance
The relaunch event takes place at 1.15pm at Waterfront Community Church, Langdon Road, Swansea SA1 8QY where attendees will be welcomed with tea and coffee during registration
Speakers on the day include Helen Davies (Lead Occupational Therapist, ABMU), Katie Davies (Physiotherapist, ABMU), Nicola Perry-Gower (Cinical Lead Pulmonary Rehabilitation, ABMU), Brian Lawley (Chair of Breathe Easy Swansea), Joseph Carter (Head of BLF Wales) and Pam Walters (IBE Project Development Executive, BLF Wales)
Future meetings will be monthly, and members can look forward to a range of activities and speakers.
A spokesperson from ABMU said: “We are really happy to be supporting the British Lung Foundation with the relaunch of the Swansea group. It’s a great way to get out into the community where support is really needed.”
“The support and information members will receive at the meetings will be important in helping them manage their conditions – and we are looking forward to meeting old and new members.”
Joseph Carter, Head of Wales, British Lung Foundation said: “We hope that the Swansea group continues to grow, and help people living with a lung condition (their friend, family and carers).”
“We would like to thank everyone from ABMU who have been working with us, to help us relaunch this group. It shows a great commitment towards respiratory health, and we hope other health boards follow in their footsteps.”
