Communities in Pembrokeshire are being reminded to contact the County Council if they wish to organise street parties marking the Queen’s official birthday on Saturday, 11th June.
The Council’s traffic management department need to be informed of any celebrations which may involve the closure of a street or road.
The Authority’s Cabinet Member for Transportation and Major Events, Rob Lewis, urged organisers to contact the Council in plenty of time to allow for road closures to be arranged.
Councillor Lewis went on: “We are happy to waive any fees associated with the publication of road closure notices.
“However in some cases it may be necessary in terms of safety to implement a temporary traffic management system – such as signs and barriers – and these costs would have to be borne by the organisers.
“It is therefore advisable to plan the event to take place on residential roads, such as cul-de-sacs, where the impact to traffic is minimal
“And if there is any entertainment provided, or alcohol to be sold, at any of the street parties, a Temporary Events Notice (TEN) is required from the Council’s licensing department.
“The last day for submission of a TEN is 26th May.
“Again, we would advise making an application as soon as possible to allow time for the administration to be completed.”
