Last Sunday saw the beginning of the Welsh conference season as our reserve side travelled to our partnered club Cardiff City RL. Cardiff had originally organised a family fun day but then decided to organise a few extra  fixtures for the day.

The day began with Cardiff playing in a few junior fixtures, this was great to see as over 40 children took part throughout the morning, the main game of the day was between our reserve squad and Cardiff. The links between both clubs are working really well as we continue to help each other both on and off the field.

We decided to use this fixture to play all types of players involved within the club, from 8 under 18 players, 4 debutants and 4 first team players, it was great to see so many young players involved as the average age on the day was 20 years old.

The game was back and forth as both teams had an array of opportunities but also had their fair share of mistakes also; Cardiff was a very physical side and took their opportunities at close range very well, the final score saw a draw with Cardiff kicking a last minute conversion to make it 22-22. With both clubs working closely together it was a score that everyone involved did not mind as nobody wanted to lose.

This week is a very busy one as we have our first home game of the season to prepare for against London Chargers. We always enjoy when we play at home as a lot of effort goes towards making sure everything runs smoothly.

We have an array of ticket packages available for the day from single match day tickets all the way through to VIP packages, if you would like to find out more please take a look at our facebook page- West Wales Raiders or contact myself on 07772949956.

This week we also have another event to prepare for as we link with Llanelli Blues Netball Team, on Thursday 12th May there will be a mixed netball tournament held for charity, this event would be held to solely raise money for the brain and spinal foundation, if anyone would like to take part or donate towards the charity please contact myself on petertiffin@raidersrugbyleague.co.uk
