Two Carmarthenshire Music Service ensembles have achieved success at the National Festival of Music For Youth.
The Carmarthenshire County Orchestra conducted by Gareth Kirby, and the Carmarthenshire Secondary Schools Choir conducted by Islwyn Evans, have been selected to perform at the prestigious Symphony Hall in Birmingham in July.
The orchestra and choir draw on pupils from secondary schools across Carmarthenshire.
Cllr Gareth Jones, Executive Board Member for Education and Children’s Services, said:“This is an outstanding achievement for the pupils in our county. The standard that has been achieved over the last few years has been exceptional and we are very proud of all of the pupils involved. We must also pass on our thanks to the Carmarthenshire Music Service staff who provide such excellent support to the young people of Carmarthenshire.”
The orchestra and choir will now have the opportunity to perform in Symphony Hall in Birmingham with the possibility of being invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London next year.
