Would you like to adopt a path in your local area and volunteer your time to help with its upkeep? If you regularly walk a path, and enjoy getting out and about your local authority would love your help.
Ceredigion County Council is launching its Adopt a Path Scheme in the county, to increase public knowledge, use and enjoyment of the path network throughout the county. The scheme is funded from the Welsh Government’s Rights of Way Improvement Plan scheme.
The Council wants to hear form residents who walk or ride on paths on a regular basis, so that they can help the Council and report any problems or obstructions, as well as helping with minor maintenance like cutting back vegetation to keep the paths accessible for other users.
Russell Hughes-Pickering who is Head of Performance and Economy at Ceredigion County Council said: “In addition to highlighting the availability of the paths for walkers, cyclists and horse-riders the scheme will also seek to create greater local involvement in looking after paths, and in so doing providing a sense of ownership for those who use and enjoy them the most.”
