Scarlets link up with Carmarthenshire Libraries

Carmarthenshire Libraries are the lucky winners to be drawn from a national competition to win the fantastic prize of a Wales Rugby Union Shirt.

This competition was held to coincide with the RBS 6 Nations Championship and the WRU said that; “This is a great competition for young people to combine their passion for rugby and literature; both are important parts of Welsh tradition and culture.”

Hundreds of children took part in the competition throughout all the locations at Carmarthenshire Libraries and the winners were drawn at random. Nathaniel Emptage was the lucky winner of the shirt and there were nine other lucky winners who were also presented with runner up prizes by Tom Price.

The competition was held throughout Carmarthenshire Libraries and the aim was to encourage children to discover what they can find in their local library.  Children had to discover where Scorch, the WRU mascot, was hiding in their local library and then fill in a short form to enter the competition. Along with the Wales Rugby Union shirt there are other great prizes up for grabs including WRU wallets, pin badges and activity packs.

Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Ken Skates said; “This is a creative idea offering   young people across Wales the chance to embrace this year’s Six Nations tournament while also making the most of their local library facilities.

2016 marks the Year of Adventure in Wales so I would definitely encourage everyone to get involved with this adventure competition. While searching for Scorch why not also use this opportunity to discover your next favourite book or author.”
