Landlords and agents are invited to attend a series of roadshows being hosted across Carmarthenshire over the next few weeks.

New legislation has changed the landscape for landlords in Wales, and the topic of Rent Smart Wales will be amongst those discussed at the roadshows which will be essential for anyone who rents out a property in Carmarthenshire.

The roadshows are being hosted by Carmarthenshire County Council’s housing services team, and will take place at:

  • Amman Civic Centre, Ammanford, on Thursday, May 19, 6-8pm
  • Ffwrnes Theatre, Llanelli, on Thursday, May 26, 6-8pm
  • Ivy Bush Royal Hotel, Carmarthen, on Thursday June 9, 6-8pm

The roadshows are free, and no booking is required.

Guest speakers will present a keynote discussion around the new legislation and welfare reform, including an opportunity for questions and answers.

It will also provide an opportunity for landlords to learn about the council’s Social Lettings Agency, which sees the council manage private rental properties on the landlord’s behalf in return for a small fee.

Cllr Linda Evans, Executive Board Member for Housing, said: “We have a strong and vibrant private rental sector in Carmarthenshire, and we want to see landlords working together, and with us, to ensure there is a range of good quality, well-managed homes, available for tenants.

“These roadshows will be an excellent opportunity for landlords to discuss new legislation, including Rent Smart Wales, and to network with eachother.”
