First News, the UK’s only newspaper for children, will be exhibiting at the world famous Hay Festival in 2016. The award winning weekly newspaper, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this month, will be out in full force from Saturday 28th May to Sunday 5th June.

As well as fun games and exciting prizes at the First News stand – kids will also be able to grab a free copy of the newspaper to take home.  First News aims to fuel conversations that matter in homes across the country.  Now it’s the children’s turn to grill us: what makes a great headline, how do we create a newspaper?

The faces behind the newspaper will be on hand to chat with parents answering questions on the significant impact First News has on children’s literacy, right through to the complexities of discussing hard hitting current affairs with children. First News will also host a special event (Event HD79) at the Starlight stage on Saturday 4th June at 1pm to celebrate the newspaper’s tenth anniversary. Guests will be able to find out what goes on behind the scenes in creating a newspaper and even have a go at being a journalist themselves.

The 29th annual Hay Festival will take place from Thursday 26th   May – Sunday 5th June 2016 in the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales. The ten-day family friendly event is famous for bringing together writers from around the world to debate and share stories. The line-up for 2016 will include some of the most well-known British children’s authors such as Jeremy Strong, Jacqueline Wilson and Professor Robert Winston.
