Margam Country Park is to be thrown into the spotlight over the next two weeks when it features in a popular BBC One programme.
Flog It!, the popular antiques programme presented by Paul Martin, was filmed at the Park last year and is to be aired on Monday 23rd May and Friday 3rd June at 4.30pm.
The show is now on its 14th series and regularly attracts an audience of over 2 million viewers in its weekday afternoon slot.
Margam Park hosted the Flog It! valuation day within the landscaped grounds of the historical 18th Century Orangery. Rather like a treasure hunt, members of the public were invited to bring along up to three antiques and collectables that they were interested in selling.
Since it started the show has made a number of significant finds. These include a rare Aboriginal Broad Shield that had been hidden away in a Flog It! viewer’s wardrobe and went on to sell for £30,000. The series also uncovered an unusual Royal Doulton Spook figurine in Blackpool which had been bought at a car boot sale for £2 and fetched £5000 at auction.
Cllr. Ali Thomas, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council said:
“I am delighted that such a high profile show as Flog It! chose to film in our area. As well as being an interesting day out for everyone that attended last year, the show’s popularity will provide an excellent way to showcase the Margam Country Park and its spectacular setting”.
