Over 2,500 car parking spaces close to the Liberty Stadium will be available for Manic Street Preachers fans this Saturday (May 28).

The Welsh super band will be taking to the stage at 8pm to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their smash hit Everything Must Go album.

Doors for the concert open at 5pm.

Car parking options in the area include the Landore park and ride site, which has more than 700 car parking spaces and will operate as a park and walk facility, and Cwm Level playing fields, which can accommodate over 1,000 cars. Both sites open at 1pm and close an hour after the concert finishes.

Other options include more than 400 spaces on land next to Swansea Tennis Centre and an additional 400 spaces at the Fabian Way park and ride site. The parking area next to Swansea Tennis Centre opens at 1pm and closes an hour after the concert finishes, while the park and ride site on Fabian Way opens at 3pm and also closes an hour after the concert.

First Cymru is putting on extra buses from the Liberty Stadium to the railway station on High Street to help get people home after the concert.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “Attracting the Manic Street Preachers is another fantastic coup for the Liberty Stadium – a venue that has also played host to other famous acts like The Who, The Kings of Leon and Elton John in recent years. Concerts of this kind give local people world class entertainment on their doorstep, boost the visitor economy and help raise Swansea’s profile across the UK and beyond.

“We’d encourage anyone who’s driving to the concert to park legally and safely by using the dedicated car parking spaces that are being made available. Information has also been added to the Enjoy Swansea Bay website for people arriving in Swansea by bus or train who are looking for the best way to get to the Liberty Stadium.

“A comprehensive package of signs will be in place in advance of the concert, informing motorists of the location of the parking facilities. Vehicle message signs will also be displayed on the M4 to direct concert-goers to the relevant motorway exits.”

A temporary road closure will be in place at the end of the concert. The A4067 dual carriageway opposite the stadium will close for at least 20 minutes, although it will be reopened as soon as it safely can be.

Parking spaces can be pre-booked for the Fabian Way park and ride site, the Landore park and walk facility, and Cwm Level playing fields.
