Llanelli LGBT Support, a project by CETMA the volunteer led social enterprise based in Llanelli is launching what is believed to be Wales’ First Ever dedicated LGBT business friendly directory.

Business must be willing to:

1. Welcome to LGBT People 2. Employ LGBT People
3. Stand Up For LGBT People 4. Not Discriminate

5. Allow Regular Mystery Checks

Keith Evans, LGBT Support Project Manager said:

The LGBT business directory will see businesses sign up for 5 pledges that will say

they are LGBT friendly.

“LGBTs face all sorts of discrimination. From violence to people making remarks. It

can be quite traumatic for an LGBT couple to go out for a simple meal together with

people staring and/or saying things.”

“Discrimination still continues, and a lot of LGTB people don’t complain or report

any issues to the authorities.”

“With this scheme, businesses have to take an active part in promoting themselves

as LGBT friendly, not only to customers but to employees too.”

“Businesses that sign up will be listed on our directory or LGBT people to search

and find companies that they can trust to not be discriminated against.”

Once businesses have signed up, they will received a certificate and a window sticker for display in their premises and have a listing in the online directory. There

will be an admin charge of £25 which goes towards the running of the scheme and

Terms and Conditions will apply.
