The day centre caters for adults with learning disabilities and around 75 customers attend to take part in an extensive range of activities from sports to computer studies.

Portfield SAC has offered this service since the 1970s and naturally the decor was beginning to show its age and was in need of a lick of paint.

So imagine the delight of staff and customers when DiY experts Wickes in Haverfordwest and C&A Decorating in Milford Haven stepped in to donate paint while the Tesco store just around the corner sent a large team to help Portfield staff with the redecoration.

With everyone pulling together, the majority of the centre was painted in just one weekend.

“We are delighted and touched by the tremendous community support we were given in decorating our facility” said Judith Leyland, senior team co-ordinator at Portfield SAC.

“The building was sorely in need of some TLC and now we have a base of cream walls and gloss woodwork – a lovely, bright and clean combination.

“Thank you everybody for making our centre a brighter place.”
