Hafod Hotel

The Hafod Hotel located in the historic village of Devil’s Bridge, a short distance from the bustling university town of Aberystwyth has been sold by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co.

Originally built as a hunting lodge in the 1700’s, the Hafod Hotel is a traditional country hotel offering 16 ensuite bedrooms, restaurant, tea room/function room and bar.

The hotel is set in extensive grounds of approximately 7.7 acres and was brought to the market at a guide price of £500,000 for the freehold interest which attracted significant levels of interest from across the UK. After a short period of marketing a sale was agreed to experienced local operators Dewi & Nicol Gwynne.

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains, Devil’s Bridge village is renowned worldwide for its waterfalls and three stacked bridges.  The hotel’s spectacular setting has seen it recently feature in the award winning and critically acclaimed BBC/S4C drama ‘Hinterland’ which has attracted visitors from all over the world.

John Coggins of Christie & Co’s Cardiff office who handled the sale, comments: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to secure buyers as experienced as Dewi & Nicol Gwynne. They have built a fantastic reputation with their existing business, The Cross Foxes in Dolgellau, and I’m certain they will be able to achieve considerable success with the Hafod Hotel.

“The hotel has always created a lot of interest from tourists, but this has grown significantly since it was featured in ‘Hinterland’.

“Dewi and Nicol are looking to expand on the current business’ potential and put their own mark on the hotel. We wish them the very best of success in their new venture.”
