In a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday 28 June 2016, Ceredigion County Council Cabinet decided to postpone the decision about whether to renew the contract for the current Park & Ride (P&R) service in Aberystwyth. This issue will first be presented to the Thriving Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee for their consideration.

A meeting of the Thriving Communities Overview and  Scrutiny Committee will be held shortly and the recommendations from this meeting will be taken to Cabinet on Tuesday 19 July 2016.
Costing the Council £69,000 a year to run, the current P&R service operates a circular route around Aberystwyth town centre with Bronglais Hospital being a key part of this. As part of identifying efficiencies to achieve the necessary financial savings the P&R service has been highlighted as an area to be examined.
The P&R service is part of the Council’s Transformation Programme, which is part of looking to make enforced savings of £8.6m this year (2016/17).
