BRIDGEND BLUE BULLS 32 CARDIFF CITY RL 20

Bridgend Blue Bulls leapt over Cardiff City RL into second place in the Welsh Conference after beating them 32-20 in Pyle on Saturday.

The home side, who needed a win to get their championship charge back on track, were made to battle for the points, but in the end it was a dominant second half performance that saw them through.

Bridgend only led by conversions at the break as converted tries from Joe Symons and Tom Ansen gave them a 12-8 lead, Gareth Howells kicking the conversions.

They followed that up in the second half with scores from Howells, Gareth Cook, Jack Douglas and Steve Smith with Howells improving two of the tries.

Brad Williams notched a try and goal for Cardiff, with Dwayne Isles and Dan Crimmins (2) also crossing.

NOTTINGHAM OUTLAWS 34 VALLEY COUGARS 4

Valley Cougars slipped down to second place in Conference League South after a disappointing 34-4 defeat away at Nottingham Outlaws.

It was the Cougars’ biggest defeat in almost two years, and it was only in the early stages that they were ever in the game.

A Sam Campbell try converted by Luca Costante gave Nottingham an early lead but Cougars soon pulled a try back via an unconverted effort from Liam Watton.

But that was it for the Welsh in regards to scoring as Notts took over. Tries from Paul Calland and George Strachan, both converted by Costante, gave them an 18-4 lead at the break.

In the second half, Nottingham scored three unanswered tries to secure a big win and go into third, just behind the Cougars.

Adam Cunliffe, Alex Whittle and Jack Pearson were the scorers with Costante failing the complete his 100% kicking record only with his final attempt.
