Creative Cardiff will be hosting their first Welsh language Show & Tell event this month, focusing on the Welsh Language digitally.
Held at Yr Hen Lyfrgell, the event is an opportunity for creatives throughout the Cardiff City Region to get together to hear about current projects and ambitions within the creative community. Translation will be provided for non-Welsh speakers and Welsh learners.
Each of the speakers will give a 10 minute lightning presentation and bring an object with them. The object might be the source of their inspiration, a tool of their trade or a comfort blanket. The speakers will share their work, explain the importance of the object they’ve brought along and why they choose to work in Cardiff and the city region.
The speakers include:
- Huw Marshall, Bilingual Digital Strategist and founder of the first Welsh language Twitter hour @yrawrgymraeg
- Cai Morgan, producer and presenter on S4C’s new digital channel PUMP
- Daf Prys, writer and one half of FIDEO8, a community for discussing all things videogames, board games and comics in Wales.
Cardiff University School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies lecturer and former ITV Wales journalist Sian Morgan Lloyd will host the event.
Director of Creative Economy at Cardiff University, Sara Pepper said: “Our Show & Tell events always prove very popular. They provide a platform for those working in sectors across the creative economy to come together and share information about their work and its relevance to the city and its region.
“As the creative economy continues to grow, we see this as an important way of sharing knowledge, experience and skills to further the work of individuals and organisations in the creative community.”
Creative Cardiff is a new network which connects people working in any creative organisation, business or job in the Cardiff region. It is supported by Cardiff University’s Creative Economy team in partnership with founder members Wales Millennium Centre, BBC Cymru Wales and Cardiff Council.
The Show & Tell event will take place on Monday, 18 July from 6.30pm until 8pm with the opportunity for networking following the presentations at Yr Hen Lyfrgell, The Hayes, Cardiff CF10 1BH. Visit the Creative Cardiff website to book a free place: http://creativecardiff.org.uk/events
