Wiggle, world’s largest tri sports retailer and proud sponsor of The Wiggle High5 women’s professional cycling team is relishing the prospect of participating in this year’s La Course by Le Tour de France race which takes place in Paris on Sunday 24th July 2016.
The Wiggle High5 team goes into the race with a new Sport Director, Donna Rae-Szalinski, the highly respected and experienced Australian coach who led Australia’s junior women to two world titles at the UCI Road World Championships between 2008 and 2014. According to her, “We go into La Course by le Tour de France with riders capable of meeting the challenges of the occasion. Chloe Hosking’s stage win in the Giro puts her in the sprinters mix while Lucy Garner is also a capable sprinter. Audrey Cordon, Dani King, Amy Pieters and Amy Roberts are all opportunistic and aggressive riders capable of making a decisive break. La Course by Le Tour de France is a very special race and will take a dedicated and determined team effort.”

La Course by Le Tour de France is Round 12 of the UCI Women’s WorldTour, and is a circuit race on the Champs – Élysées which is run ahead of the men’s peloton for the final stage of the Tour de France. It comprises 13 laps totalling 89km and utilises infrastructure already in place for the men’s Tour. The race provides the perfect showcase for the professional women’s peloton in front of a huge crowd and massive global media audience.
Last year Wiggle High5 riders Jolien D’Hoore from Belgium and Amy Pieters from the Netherlands secured second and third position respectively and the team, which has performed so well so far this year, is determined to do even better in 2016’s race.
