A Silver anniversary of a different kind was celebrated in Neath Port Talbot recently as long time foster carer Anne Lewis had her 25 year distinguished career marked as part the fostering annual awards ceremony.

The NPT Foster Team runs the yearly ceremony to thank foster carers for their dedication and hard work. Often fostering is the best way to provide care for the most vulnerable children and young people with a nurturing family setting helping to encourage achievements and successes.

As well as celebrating the long service awards, the day included fun family activities with entertainment provided by Loopy Lews Magic and Mayhem Show.

Councillor Ali Thomas OBE, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council said:

“On behalf of the Fostering Team, I would like to congratulate and thank Anne for showing outstanding commitment and dedication to our most vulnerable children and young people. Since 1991, Anne has cared for over a 100 children and young people with many of those being long term placements. 25 years of service as a foster carer is an incredible achievement and I say to anyone who is interested in finding out more about fostering, please get in touch”.

The Fostering Team are currently looking for families to care for young people.  For further information, please call the Fostering Team on 01639 685866 or visit www.npt.gov.uk/fostering.
