Singha Premiership Rugby 7s summer of rugby gets underway this evening at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park as the Welsh regions go head-to-head in the campaign’s opening leg.

WRW, one of the leading construction and development companies in Wales and a long-time sponsor of Scarlets Rugby, have been announced as Scarlets 7s main shirt sponsor for the tournament.

Scarlets will get proceedings underway at 7pm against Cardiff Blues as the West Wales region looks to build on the success of last year’s campaign where the young side made it through to the final at Twickenham Stoop.

Scarlets’ 12-man squad will take on Cardiff Blues, Ospreys and Newport Gwent Dragons in the 7s campaign with Dragons looking to retain their championship trophy.

Jon Williams, Business Development Director, speaking at today’s launch said: “WRW has developed a great deal over the past 30 years to become one of Wales’ leading construction companies.  While the business has grown in that time to now deliver projects through the whole of Wales and Southern England, we are proud of where we’ve come from and particularly proud to be continuing our support of the Scarlets.

“WRW is excited to invest in the Scarlets’ Sevens team.  It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to support the next generation of talent emerging through the ranks at the Scarlets at a time when one of our own will shortly represent Great Britain Sevens in the Olympics next month – we are particularly proud of James Davies’ achievements and wish him well as he competes in Rio.”

Scarlets Commercial Manager Rhys Thomas said: “On behalf of the Scarlets I’d like to thank WRW for their continued support of the Scarlets. They have been a part of the Scarlets family for more than a decade and their continuous support is hugely appreciated. We’re all very excited about this evening’s tournament opener and looking forward to seeing some free-flowing rugby.”
