Scarlets are delighted to announce a major new deal with global sports brand Intersport.

The new commercial partnership, between Scarlets and world leader in sports retail Intersport, will see the Intersport brand appear on the reverse of both home and away Scarlets jerseys for the eagerly anticipated forthcoming 2016-17 GUINNESS PRO12 and European Rugby Champions Cup season.

Parc y Scarlets hosted a star-studded event on Tuesday evening, 9th August, that saw the home jersey revealed to sponsors, partners, supporters and friends alike.

Following on from a season that saw the Scarlets lead the charge in the GUINNESS PRO12 for much of the campaign the West Wales region finished the season by securing a place in Europe’s top-flight competition and will be the only Welsh representative in the 2016-17 campaign.

The on-field success was mirrored off the field with the Scarlets increasing their partner base by 35%. The introduction of a global brand such as Intersport will further support the region’s growth strategy.

Intersport are a world leader in sports retail operating in 44 countries throughout the globe. Formed in 1968 in central Europe, Intersport today is the largest sporting goods retailer worldwide.

Tom Foley, General Manager of Intersport UK said, “We have been impressed with the passion and ambition at Scarlets and are proud to join forces with such a progressive club for the upcoming season. Together I believe we can create some excitement and some fun with our partnership.”

Commenting on the tie-up, Scarlets CEO Darran Phillips said, “For Scarlets to attract an international brand the size and stature of Intersport, demonstrates the power of the Scarlets brand both in the UK and overseas. We look forward to working with Intersport and to developing the relationship. We very much welcome Tom and his team to Parc y Scarlets.”

In addition to the kit sponsorship both parties will work together on a range of initiatives during the forthcoming campaign with “Taking Sport to the People” as the framework. The initiatives will include community projects, branding initiatives, social media campaigns and experiential activity.
