The Economy Secretary, Ken Skates, has today welcomed new flights aimed at commuters and businesses.
With the railway undergoing 6 weeks of improvements, passengers are set to take full advantage of Flybe’s new flights from Cardiff Airport to London City Airport. Flights start at £35 with three flights each way every day and will run from 12 September to 21 October.
Economy Secretary Ken Skates said:
“The link between South Wales and South East England is essential for businesses and commuters and I’m delighted that Cardiff Airport is providing a solution to what might otherwise be costly time delays.
“These flights offer a hassle free and timely alternative for anyone wishing to work, visit or do business at both ends of the M4. I know many business leaders are already looking forward to the time and money it will save and the opportunities it might provide. The flights will compliment the existing bus and rail replacement services and routes already in operation during this period.
“If the flights prove popular then I’m told consideration will be given to extending the service beyond the 6 week period.”
