Llanelli: CHURCH STREET PROPOSALS WILL NOT PROCEED

Draft proposals for Church Street in Llanelli will not proceed any further following initial feedback from town councillors and the local member.

The initial concept plans were drawn up as part of a wider route (safety) treatment project thanks to a grant from Welsh Government.

They were presented to the Llanelli Town Traffic Management Working Group in July for their initial views.

As a result, it has been decided not to proceed any further with these plans. However, officers will continue to look at various options for safety improvements along the wider route. Any further proposals will be consulted on.

Executive Board Member for the Environment Cllr Hazel Evans said: “These proposals were only ever at a design outline stage. We have listened to what the town council and local member have said, and as a result they will not be taken forward to public consultation.

“Transport officers will now be looking at other options for the area.”
