Small and medium sized enterprises based on Port Talbot Waterfront Enterprise Zone are being reminded that applications close on 30 September for a discretionary grant scheme that could see successful applicants receive up to £55,000 or their business rates paid – whichever is the lowest.
The Enterprise Zone Business Rates Scheme is providing a significant boost for eligible business and helping to lower their operating costs by providing a grant to offset their Business Rates incurred during 2016/17 financial year.
Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure, Ken Skates is encouraging eligible businesses in the Enterprise Zone to act swiftly and apply before the closing date.
He said:
“The scheme is providing real benefits to companies and supporting economic growth and job creation in the area. I’d advise SMEs that are either located in the Enterprise Zone or looking to start a business in the Zone to find out more about the scheme and to apply for support if eligible.”
The scheme focuses on SMEs that are demonstrating business growth –new starts or businesses that are increasing the size of their full time workforce.
Consideration is also given to other business activity related to sectors, increased productivity and Innovation/R&D.
