Besides its long-established Swansea store, the Optic Shop has several franchises throughout South Wales, including shops in Port Talbot, Newport, Cwmbran and Abergavenny.
In late 2015, a new branch opened in Cross Hands run by Aaron Evan-Jones, son of The Optic Shop’s co-owner Russell Evan-Jones, who founded the business with Helen Jones in 1991. Russell’s family have been in the business since 1886, when his family established a pharmacist/ opticians in Station Road, Llanelli.
“Aaron was keen to continue the family tradition, and the Cross Hands location was perfect, as there is no other optician within about five miles,”says Russell.
The shop, which is right beside the roundabout on the A48 at Cross Hands, has ample parking and a huge selection of frames in store, including selected Ted Baker and Converse frames starting at £30. It also offers complete glasses from as little as £15.
The range of frames available includes numerous designer options available on an NHS voucher. Besides glasses,The Optic Shop offers offers an excellent range of prescription goggles for anyone hitting the ski slopes. The company also specialises in contact lenses, and can provide all the latest options to ensure that you get the best possible experience from wearing them. Regular eye tests are important, not only as a way to ensure your prescription is up to date but also to catch eye disorders such as glaucoma and macular degeneration as early as possible.The Optic Shop offers competitively priced eye tests, which are often available at very short notice.
