Langland Bay Golf Club has played host to the DJM charity Golf Day on Thursday 22 September that raised £5,000 for Action for Children which supports disadvantaged children, young people with and their families throughout Wales and the UK.
The event was organised by Michael Snowdon and Welsh rugby legend, Paul Thorburn from DJM Solicitors and saw 64 players from Welsh businesses, including Stones & Co, One Life Financial Planning, Gerald Eve Accountants, Dawsons, Two Six Financial, Handelsbanken, Principality Building Society and the JEHU Group.
Action for Children’s fundraiser in Wales, Nina Rice, said: “We are so grateful to DJM Solicitors who have put on a fantastic event and through the donations, raffle and auction, have raised an amazing amount of money for Action for Children on a gloriously sunny Swansea day.
“The funds raised are crucial in helping us continue to support the young people and families we work with. Thanks in particular to organisers Michael Snowdon and Paul Thorburn who made everything run so smoothly on the day and Langland Bay Golf Club for being the prefect hosts.”
Joining Paul Thorburn from the rugby world were former Wales captain Bleddyn Bowen and Welsh international David Richards with former Welsh international athlete, Berwyn Price also supporting the event.
The golfers went on to enjoy an auction and a raffle after their round of golf that included prizes of a meal for two at Cardiff’s prestigious Potted Pig restaurant; rugby tickets and lunch with Paul Thorburn; as well as rounds of golf at Royal Porthcawl and St Pierre golf courses.
