Based on data from customers in January to September 2016 compared to the same period in 2015, searches and bookings for holidays between 18th December and 6th January have more than doubled showing a strong demand for Christmas staycations.

Devon proves to be the most popular Christmas destination, with over 1 in 4 of customers (26%) choosing to book a property in the county in 2016. Closely followed by Cornwall and Wales with 14% and 10% respectively of all the company’s bookings. Other popular destinations for Christmas include Somerset (8%), Derbyshire (7%) and Scotland (7%).

James Morris, Managing Director said:

“We’re not surprised to see the sharp rise in bookings for the 2016 Christmas season, we’ve had a record year so far to date and the demand for Christmas has followed suit. It’s amazing to think we are helping double the amount of people celebrate this Christmas in a home away from home. It’s even better to find out that almost 2 in 3 of the bookings (59%) were made by big groups of people getting together to celebrate. But it’s not just groups, surprisingly, 2% of our bookings are made by single bookers escaping the hustle of Christmas!”

Additionally, families make up 14% of Christmas bookings and couples 25%.
