Residents, community groups and local businesses in Neath Port Talbot are being encouraged to have their say on how the Council can meet its budget shortfall for 2017/18 and beyond.
Leader of the Council, Cllr. Ali Thomas OBE said:
“Since 2010, this Council has been forced to cut some £72m in real terms from its revenue budget and has reduced its workforce by 20% through a combination of voluntary redundancies and a transfer of functions.
“Difficult decisions have been unavoidable as a consequence of continued budget cuts on essential public services.
“The aim of this consultation is to gather feedback in relation to the draft budget proposals for next year and beyond, and explore any additional proposals that people might have.
“It is important that we know what people think before final decisions are taken and I would urge people to give their views.”
More information on the proposals and a link to an online feedback form can be found at www.npt.gov.uk/budget. Alternatively, paper copies of the feedback form and boxes for posting completed forms can be found at civic buildings, libraries and other public buildings across the county borough.
The feedback from the public consultation will be taken into consideration and proposals will be amended as necessary before being put to elected members for decision in the new year.
