Apple bobbing, making an apple bird feeder, quizzes, trails and a stunning display of 500 varieties of apples are just some of the fruits treats in store for Apple Weekend, at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (Oct 15-16).

This annual celebration of everyone’s favourite fruit will again feature the popular apple identification desk, apple juice and apple brand to taste and buy, and help and advice from a beekeeper and the Welsh Perry and Cider Society.

There will also be a fruit tree expert on hand to help you pick the best variety for your soil type, climate etc etc. So, whether you have a sheltered and sunny walled garden or live atop a hill kissed by salty sea breezes, Paul Davies of Dolau Hirion Nurseries will have the answer for you.

So plenty of appeal for all ages and all levels of expertise.

In addition, the Sunday of Apple Weekend features the annual end-of-season ‘crank down’ event by the Towy Valley Vintage Club, whose members will be displaying off all sorts of classic and vintage vehicles.

The Garden is open from 10am to 6pm with last entry at 5pm.

Admission to the Garden is £9.75 (including Gift Aid) for adults and £4.95 for children over five.  Entry is FREE for Garden members and parking is free for all.
