Conker fights and pumpkin carving are the two big ticket items this autumn half-term at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

The Great Carmarthenshire Conker Contest takes centre stage in the first half of the week-long hols (Oct 22-26) and this old chestnut of an autumn event is all set to provide some cracking competition.

The action kicks off on Saturday October 22 – and baking and pickling of conkers isstrictly prohibited.

The second half of the week is mainly predicated on pumpkins – with Carving College open for business from October 26-30.

These are just two of the fabulous family activities on offer: there will also be a scavenger hunt, make-your-own autumn crowns and garlands plus conker model-making.

The Garden is open from 10am to 6pm with last entry at 5pm.

Admission to the Garden is £9.75 (including Gift Aid) for adults and £4.95 for children over five.  Entry is FREE for Garden members and parking is free for all.
