COUNCILLORS SUPPORT FREE BOOKS PROJECT
On Tuesday 1st November, Cllrs Tegwen Devichand and Sharen Davies popped into CETMA’s Free Books Llanelli project to deliver books.
The Free Books project sees books being recycled instead of ending up in landfills. Llanelli Free Books relies on books donated from the public with the intention of the public then loaning out books they want to read and returning them.
The Cllrs spent time looking around the CETMA offices and talking with Managing Director Jonathan Williams about some of the community projects that are run from there.
Cllr Tegwen Devichand said: “I fully support the initiative of the free book Llanelli project.”
“After visiting the unit in Trostre I was amazed at the amount of projects being carried out by volunteers supporting various organisations for the benefit of residents in all areas.”
Cllr Sharen Davies added: “It was interesting to hear the different projects that CETMA are involved in, from recycling, repairing computers, supporting individuals to the free books.”
“It was a pleasure to be able to support CETMA with a variety of books from Carmarthenshire Library Services. The scheme of lending 3 books to individuals is a worthwhile educational and stimulating way of keeping your mind active.”
The Cllrs were also told of the first Clothing Swap event that CETMA are running on Saturday 19th November. The Swap events takes place between 11am and 1pm on in CETMA’s premises in Trostre and people can bring Clothing, Music and Bric a Brac to swap with others on the day.
