The top cities and sectors for UK job growth
According to the results, there was a 13.6 per cent year-on-year UK job growth in November 2016. CV-Library commended the companies in the midst of the recruitment drive, particularly as the country remains in the midst of economic uncertainty.
But with the uncertainty in mind, salaries fell by 3.2 per cent year-on-year. On a sector basis, construction and agriculture had the largest declines with 22.9 per cent and 16.7 per cent respectively. Meanwhile, Leeds and Portsmouth were the cities with largest falls of 7.2 per cent and 5.2 per cent.
As well as the annual rise, UK job growth was also seen month-on-month too, with a 3.2 per cent rise in November on October. Despite this, application rates fell by 4.5 per cent month-on-month, which is attributed to a propensity to apply for roles in the New Year.

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library comments: âItâs great to see that the nation as a whole has experienced strong job growth in November, and that businesses are remaining confident in the run up to Christmas.
Itâs a busy time of year, and therefore not entirely surprising that jobs have risen, as organisations look for staff to work over the festive period. Itâs also apparent that some of the savvier employers are choosing to advertise their vacancies well ahead of the January rush, in a bid to boost their chances against competitors as candidates begin looking for opportunities in the New Year.
âThis abundance of vacancies is great news for eager job hunters, who have plenty of opportunities to tap into when theyâre ready to look for a new role.â
