Llanelli’s Community Champion’s Charity Efforts Continue with a Special Christmas Appeal

Joanne Stroud who owns Llanelli’s Extrovert Beauty Aesthetics and Nail Salon in the Bryn, has been very busy organising a special charity appeal to help local people in need this Christmas.

Joanne, who had her kind hearted efforts recognised this year when she was crowned the Llanelli Star Community Awards Community Champion, has been appealing for the people of Llanelli to donate items.

The hard working mum who combines her charity work with running her busy salon has been collecting donations of clothes, toys, homeware, and food at her salon throughout the year.

For several years now, Joanne has dedicated countless hours of her time to helping people who are in difficult and unfortunate circumstances and, in the lead up to Christmas, she likes to be able to give some assistance to people who find themselves in a challenging financial situation.

Joanne was inspired to establish her annual charity appeal because of her deep desire to help struggling and disadvantaged people. She chose to create an annual campaign where she would ask for donations from the community, receive them in her salon, and then co-ordinate their dispatch to those deemed most in need.

The various donated items brought into the salon are sorted through, packaged up, and then delivered to people including: the homeless; children who have been removed from their families due to domestic abuse; teens who have grown up in the care system and are now living in sheltered accommodation; lonely elderly people and struggling single parents or families.

This year Joanne’s appeal has been seeking some special donations to provide assistance for the plight of two mums with teenage children who have had to both flee their abusive partners.

Joanne said she aims to provide enough support to the victims to avoid them being in a position where they feel they have no option but to return to their abusive partner.

She believes that there are many women in their position who can end up returning to their domestic abuser because they feel they cannot provide for their children independently.

In light of this, Joanne has made a special request for gifts and clothes for teenage boys and also set up a Go Fund Me appeal link for cash donations so she can ensure these families get to celebrate a Christmas together happily and safely.
