Tenders invited for mobile catering units
Food businesses are being offered a chance to operate hot and cold food catering units across Llanelli’s Millennium Coastal Park.
Applications are now being taken for two units to operate from the car park in Sandy Water Park and two in Festival Fields. Two mobile hot catering units and up to two cold units are also available at Burry Port Harbour.
In addition, tenders have also been issued by Carmarthenshire County Council for operating up to three mobile catering units to sell ice cream and other cold items at Pembrey Country Park and one catering unit to operate from the car park outside the park’s main entrance.
Applicants are also invited to apply for a hot food catering area to be located in the main park area under a 12-month contract. Tenderers must supply their own covered temporary building which complements the outlet and the park.
Tenders should be submitted by 12 noon on Tuesday, February 21. Further information and forms of tender can be obtained from The Visitor Centre, Pembrey Country Park, or call 01554 742434 or email camppembrey@carmarthenshire.gov.uk.
A newly refurbished Ski Centre café has recently opened and a re-furbished beach kiosk seating area together with a mobile catering unit with a covered seating area is planned and will be available at Pembrey Country Park for the summer season whilst renovation of the main restaurant area gets underway.
Carmarthenshire County Council is investing over £2million in the park, with exciting plans for a new restaurant and indoor play area near the busy camp site. Designs are nearing completion, and work will begin shortly.
Cllr Meryl Gravell, Executive Board Member for Leisure, said: “Plans are progressing well for a major refurbishment of the main restaurant to provide a modern facility for all ages.
“We had hoped to start work sooner, but contractors discovered bats within the existing building which has pushed back the schedule of works until the spring.
“We have just opened the newly refurbished café at the Ski Centre with a hot and cold food counter, and we will have other temporary catering facilities elsewhere within the park to have food whilst soaking up the stunning outdoor environment.”
The £2million investment in the park includes an improved park entrance and barrier system; as well as a new shower and toilet block for the caravan and camping site.
Meanwhile, contractors have been appointed for the restaurant refurbishment and new shower and toilet block, as well as new services to some caravan pitches and new lighting.
Work will start within weeks and will be completed during the summer months. Disruption to campers and visitors will be kept to a minimum.
