The National Botanic Garden of Wales is delighted to announce the appointment of three new trustees.

Engineer Mike Woods, wildlife expert and author Pat OâReilly MBE and a former Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister at the National Assembly Eluned Parrott have all joined the Garden team.

Welcoming the new arrivals, trustee chairman Rob Jolliffe said: âIâm delighted that Mike, Pat and Eluned are joining Team Garden. We are always keen to increase the experience, knowledge and skill-set of the trustee board and these three bring all of that and more in abundance.â

Mike Woods is a Chartered Engineer and graduated with both his first degree and PhD from the University of Bath before lecturing there. He then joined PricewaterhouseCoopers, specialising in financial modelling, before becoming the Technical Adviser to the PPP Arbiter for London Underground.  He is currently benchmarking specialist for the Mayor of Londonâs Independent Investment Programme Advisory Group and an independent consultant. Â

After 20-years in science and engineering, Pat OâReilly moved to Wales in 1981, setting up a consultancy in opportunity management. He has chaired Government policy reviews and strategy development committees; for 12 years he chaired Welsh Governmentâs advisory committees on fisheries, ecology, recreation and conservation, latterly serving as deputy chair of the Countryside Council for Wales. Author of 30 books, Pat is co-director of First Nature Publishing, specialising in wildlife, ecology and countryside topics.

Eluned Parrott is director of marketing consultancy Parrott Communications and a former member of the National Assembly for Wales. She was the Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for Business, Enterprise, Transport and Europe.

Originally from Abergavenny, Eluned attended Cardiff University and went on to undertake marketing and public engagement roles for Techniquest, National Youth Arts Wales and Cardiff University before entering politics. She lives with her family in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Mr Jolliffe described the new arrivals as âtremendous boonâ for the strategic oversight of the Carmarthenshire-based charity.

* The National Botanic Garden of Wales opened in May 2000 â the first national botanic garden to be created in the new millennium. The Garden is a charity which receives financial support from the Welsh Government. The Gardenâs mission to inspire, educate and conserve has not only made it a beautiful place to visit but a fascinating and relevant one too.

Yn dilyn 20 mlynedd yng ngwyddoniaeth a pheirianyddiaeth, gwnaeth Pat OâReilly symud i Gymru yn 1981, a sefydlu ymgynghoriaeth yn rheolaeth cyfleoedd. Mae wedi cadeirio ar arolygon o bolisĂŻauâr Llywodraeth ac ar bwyllgorau o ddatblygiad strategol; am 12 mlynedd fe wnaeth gadeirio pwyllgorau ymgynghorol Llywodraeth Cymru ar bysgodfeydd, ecoleg, adloniant a chadwraeth, drwy fod yr is-gadeirydd o CCGC (Cyngor Cefn Gwlad Cymru) yn ddiweddarach. Yn awdur o 30 o lyfrau, mae Pat yn gyd-gyfarwyddwr o Gyhoeddi First Nature, yn arbenigo ym mywyd gwyllt, ecoleg a phynciau cefn gwlad.Â
