A lucky Carmarthenshire schoolgirl has been presented with her prize from the Merlin Festival town treasure hunt by Carmarthenshire County Council and Carmarthen Chamber of Trade.
Eight year old Maia Lewis received a personalised Harry Potter magic wand after correctly answering all the clues at the treasure hunt which took place at Carmarthen’s Merlin Festival on Saturday 25th March.
Wizards were placed around the town in shop windows and participants had to follow the clues to reveal a word in English and in Welsh. One lucky winner was then picked out of a hat.
Maia said “I love the Harry Potter stories and really enjoyed my day out following the clues around Carmarthen during the Merlin Festival.”
“It was great to visit parts of Carmarthen with my family I don’t normally visit!”
Neil James, Chairman of Carmarthen Chamber of Trade said “it was a pleasure for the Chamber to be involved in this prestigious event in Carmarthen town and we’re delighted so many people enjoyed exploring our lovely town and all it has to offer.”
The Merlin Festival aimed to celebrate Carmarthen’s links with the famous wizard as part of the 2017 Year of the Legend and was part funded by the Welsh Government’s Regional Tourism Engagement Fund which aims to improve the visitor experience and create stronger destinations by working together.
