How equal is Britain? Diverse Cymru calls on parliamentary candidates to support equality.

Diverse Cymru has released Five Calls to Action, asking parliamentary candidates to support the priorities of diverse communities and put equality at the heart of all decision making

Diverse Cymru’s calls to actions are based around maintaining the rights of citizens after withdrawal from the European Union, creating an Age of Justice where people from all diverse communities are supported to live free from prejudice and discrimination, tackling poverty and socioeconomic inequalities, reforming the welfare system, and flexible employment rights.

To help voters make informed choices, Diverse Cymru has presented an analysis of the major political parties manifesto points online, highlighting how political manifestos relate to equality and diversity.

“Making society fairer and more equal is important for everyone, we all stand to benefit, and so it is important to ensure that future politicians take equality seriously.”

“Brexit and a snap election have made the future uncertain for many, especially those from disadvantaged communities, we at Diverse Cymru want to make sure that their interests are recognised at Westminster.”

Chris Bryant, Labour candidate for Rhondda, and Mark Hooper, Plaid Cymru’s candidate for Cardiff Central, have committed their support to the Five Calls to Action.
