Discover Carmarthenshire at the Royal Welsh Show

DISCOVER what Carmarthenshire has to offer at this week’s Royal Welsh Show – and showcase your event to thousands of people.

A new website is being officially launched at the show today (Tues) highlighting the wide range of attractions and activities throughout the county.

Packed full of user-friendly information about beaches, castles, gardens, trails, adrenaline packed adventure and much, much more, there’s plenty of inspiration and things to do.

A comprehensive What’s On guide includes information about a range of events, from the Royal Welsh Show, which Carmarthenshire is hosting this year, to walking tours and tea parties.

People can add their own events to the site, which gets around 14,000 hits every month. A new easy system will allow organisers to put in details of their event which will be included in the bilingual What’s On guide.

The website is constantly being updated with new features being added regularly. It will be available to see at Carmarthenshire County Council’s marquee on Avenue D at the Royal Welsh Show.

Information on a wide range of adventure activities is available from quad biking and caving, to abseiling and coasteering. Horse riding, gorge walking, white water rafting, sea kayaking, parakarting or land yachting are all featured.

Other activities include laser tag, zip lining, paintball or paddle boarding – a waterman tradition which began in the early 20th Century.

Carmarthenshire has amazing beaches for windsurfing or kite surfing, with several windsurfing schools dotted around the coastline to help anyone from absolute beginners to seasoned sailors.

Water babies can enjoy river swimming along the River Teifi, rushing through white water and meandering down gentle stretches.

Information on mountain biking, walking, fishing, cycling and much more is available.

For those who are not so adventurous, the website is packed with information on attractions and things to do across the county.

Carmarthenshire’s executive board member for tourism and culture Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths said: “The new website is very user-friendly and informative, and we hope it will encourage more people to Discover Carmarthenshire this summer.

“We hope people will visit us at the show and add their Carmarthenshire event to the map to share what is happening in their community.

“Sometimes we forget what a beautiful, diverse county we live in, with so much to see and do.

“We need never leave our own doorsteps to discover fun and adventure this summer.”
