Rachel Dallimore, (18) benefitted from the makeover after the Action for Children Skills for Living project approached the leading Swansea hair and beauty salon as she starts applying for jobs and getting on with the rest of her life after leaving care.

Rachel said: ‘I’m thrilled with the results and very thankful Jamie Hill let me have this makeover.  The difference is amazing and I feel more confident already.  Working with Dawn at Skills for Living has really helped with my self-esteem and preparing to join the workforce so to do this for me has been very exciting.’

Dawn Harley, Action for Children’s project coordinator said: ‘Rachel has had a tough start in life but our Skills for Living project works hard on providing the emotional tools, practical skills and education for vulnerable young people who have often been in care, like Rachel.  We also provide employment and training opportunities so for Jamie to lay on this free makeover for Rachel is fantastic.  She looks incredible and I hope this will give her confidence a major boost.  A big thank you to all the team at Jamie Hill.’

Jamie said: ‘It was a pleasure to welcome Rachel into our salon and she was a dream client.  When Dawn from Action for Children approached me I was only too happy to help as looking good really helps you feel good which is important when sorting your life out and deciding what to do. I’m sure Rachel will flourish now and I’m delighted to know I have played my part.’
