Plaid Cymru Mid and West AM Simon Thomas has welcomed the announcement of money for a new £7m train station in Bow Street, Ceredigion but has suggested that the Westminster Government should pay the full amount.
The UK Department for Transport will invest a total of £3.945m towards the project cost of £6.76m under the New Stations Fund.
Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Climate Change and Rural Affairs Simon Thomas said:
“Since my election to the National Assembly six years ago I’ve been campaigning for train stations at Bow Street and Carno. While I’m pleased that there will be a new railway station at Bow Street why isn’t the Westminster Government paying the full amount for the project?
“A new station will boost the opportunity for commuting and take some of the weight off some of the most dangerous roads in the region.”
