Hywel Dda University Health Board (UHB) is encouraging individuals to enter the discussion about how we change and improve health services in this area, so that they are fit for the next generation and future population needs.
Over the summer, clinicians and other health professionals have met with staff, partner and third sector organisations and the public to discuss why Hywel Dda UHB can’t continue to run NHS services as they are and hear what changes should be made.
Now is the time for people to speak up and share their ideas and experiences to help make the NHS in mid and west Wales the best it can be. The deadline to have your voice heard is Friday 15 September.
Over the past nine weeks, we’ve heard the expected, the unexpected and some surprising suggestions. These include:
you feel some of our buildings are outdated and need either modernising or replacing;
people are willing to travel further, particularly for elective procedures if it means they’re performed by doctors who are more experienced in that procedure and outcomes are better. But you would want to have the initial assessment locally and come back closer to home for rehabilitation;
moving services closer to Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, including potentially a new build closer to Pembrokeshire that could change the way services are currently delivered in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire;
patients should hold their own notes – just like maternity users currently do – and you want better access to information online to help you make the right choices for your health and treatment;
being OK with seeing a health professional other than a doctor, as long as you understood their role and that they could provide the treatment you need
Dr Philip Kloer, Medical Director and Director of Clinical Strategy said: “We have a once in a generation opportunity to step back and look at how all our services are provided, hear the views of those who use and work in NHS services and make the changes needed to keep the NHS safe for future generations.
“I’d like to thank everyone so far who has taken the time to attend an event, write us a letter or fill in our survey.  We understand that this may not be a new message to most, that you may have heard us say many times in the past that the NHS needs to change. But what is different this time is that we have our doctors and services telling us that if things don’t change, our money and the time and expertise of our staff will be spent on simply maintaining the same services and plugging gaps.
“In the field of medicine we should be investing in new ways of working, modern buildings and giving our staff the time to change the way they work for the benefit of their patients. It is time to move forward and no longer stand still.”

Mae angen newid gwasanaethau’r GIG yn y Canolbarth a’r Gorllewin a dyma’r amser i chi ddweud eich dweud

Mae’r Bwrdd Iechyd yn annog unigolion i ymuno â’r drafodaeth am sut rydym yn gallu newid a gwella Gwasanaethau Iechyd yn yr ardal hon, fel eu bod nhw’n addas ar gyfer y genhedlaeth nesaf ac anghenion poblogaeth y dyfodol.
Yn ystod yr haf, mae clinigwyr a gweithwyr iechyd proffesiynol eraill wedi cyfarfod staff, partneriaid a sefydliadau trydydd sector a’r cyhoedd i drafod pam na all Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda barhau i gynnal gwasanaethau’r GIG fel y maent ar hyn o bryd a pha newidiadau y dylid eu gwneud.
Dyma’r amser i bobl ddweud eu dweud a rhannu eu syniadau a’u profiadau er mwyn helpu i wneud y GIG yn y Canolbarth a’r Gorllewin yn wasanaeth cystal ag y gall fod. Y dyddiad cau ar gyfer dweud eich dweud yw dydd Gwener 15 Medi.
Yn ystod y naw wythnos diwethaf rydym wedi clywed yr hyn roedden ni’n ei ddisgwyl, pethau annisgwyl ac ambell i awgrym gwahanol. Mae’r rhain yn cynnwys:
rydych chi’n credu bod ein hadeiladau yn hen ffasiwn ac angen ei moderneiddio neu eu hadnewyddu;
mae pobl yn fodlon teithio ymhellach, yn enwedig ar gyfer triniaethau dewisol os yw hynny’n golygu eu bod yn cael eu cyflawni gan feddygon gyda mwy o brofiad yn y maes hwnnw a bod gwell canlyniadau. Ond byddech chi am gael yr asesiad cyntaf yn lleol, a dod yn nes adref ar gyfer adferiad;
symud gwasanaethau yn agosach i Geredigion a Sir Benfro, gan gynnwys adeilad newydd yn agos i Sir Benfro a allai newid y ffordd y mae gwasanaethau’n cael eu darparu ar hyn o bryd yn Sir Gâr a Sir Benfro;
dylai cleifion gadw eu gafael ar eu nodiadau eu hunain – fel defnyddwyr gwasanaethau mamolaeth ar hyn o bryd – ac rydych chi am gael gwell mynediad i wybodaeth ar-lein i’ch helpu i wneud y dewisiadau cywir ar gyfer eich iechyd a’ch triniaeth;
hapus i weld gweithiwr iechyd proffesiynol yn hytrach na meddyg, cyhyd â’ch bod yn deall eu rôl a’u bod yn gallu darparu’r driniaeth sydd ei hangen arnoch chi.
Meddai Dr Philip Kloer, Cyfarwyddwr Meddygol a Chyfarwyddwr Strategaeth Glinigol: “Mae cyfle heb ei ail yma i gamu yn ôl ac edrych ar sut mae’n holl wasanaethau yn cael eu darparu, clywed barn pobl sy’n defnyddio a gweithio yng ngwasanaethau’r GIG a gwneud y newidiadau sydd eu hangen i gadw’r GIG yn ddiogel ar gyfer cenedlaethau’r dyfodol.
“Hoffwn ddiolch i bawb sydd wedi rhoi o’u hamser i fynychu digwyddiad, ysgrifennu llythyr atom neu gymryd rhan yn ein harolwg. Rydym yn deall nad yw hon yn neges newydd o bosib i’r rhan fwyaf ohonoch chi, a’ch bod wedi clywed dro ar ôl tro yn y gorffennol bod angen newid y GIG. Ond yr hyn sy’n wahanol y tro hwn yw bod ein meddygon a’n gwasanaethau yn dweud wrthym y bydd ein harian ac amser ac arbenigedd ein staff yn cael ei wario ar ddim ond cynnal a chadw yr un gwasanaethau a llenwi bylchau os na fydd pethau’n newid.
“Ym maes meddygaeth, dylem ni fod yn buddsoddi mewn ffyrdd newydd o weithio, adeiladau modern a rhoi amser i’n staff newid y ffordd maen nhw’n gweithio er budd eu cleifion. Mae’n amser symud ymlaen yn hytrach nag aros yn ein hunfan.”
I ddweud eich dweud, ewch i www.hywelddahb.wales.nhs.uk/TCS neu ffoniwch 01554 899056 i ofyn am gopïau wedi’u hargraffu o wybodaeth ac arolygon Trawsnewid Gwasanaethau Clinigol.
